Demographics of Offenders
In 2023 20% of individuals abusing children were youth. Nationwide in 2022, 16% of people alleged to have abused a child were children, and 98% of those that received treatment never hurt another child.
CACs in Ohio reported that in 2023 92% of alleged perpetrators in their cases were individuals that were known to children and 61% of these were family members or significant others. Nationwide, the majority of offenders (77%) are parents. This highlights the importance of child abuse education and prevention in Ohio and nationwide.
